AUDITORIUM ACCOMPLISHES GOAL
The school district had a goal of providing an auditorium at each of its existing high schools to support its belief that schools exist to promote the intellectual, social, and personal development of all students. This auditorium addition at Fayette County High School was the final project in achieving that objective. The project was selected as an Outstanding Design in the 2020 American School & University Educational Interiors Showcase.
The new building blends seamlessly with the original high school. It includes a 576-seat auditorium, formal lobby, stage, dressing areas, lighting catwalk, scene shop, storage, connecting lobby, and band rehearsal suite. The auditorium features integrated production systems to support any type of presentation and performance, from single-speaker engagements to musical and dramatic arts. The rehearsal suite includes a large rehearsal space with high ceilings and an effective combination of absorptive and diffusive acoustical treatment applied to the walls and ceiling. The suite contains practice rooms of varying sizes to accommodate small group, keyboard, and ensemble rehearsals. Multiple storage rooms for the music library, uniforms, and instruments encourage easy movement through all spaces.
